John
was brought up on a farm back in his native Northern Ireland where he grew
up with working collie's, most of which he trained himself, seems they
were very highly sought after! His first real memory of a German
Shepherd was when he saw one doing what it was meant to do, herding sheep,
something you don't see nowadays sadly!
Many
years later he progressed to training security dogs, Prince who he would
have trusted with his life & young Blue. He didn't get a chance
to finish training Blue up as he didn't agree with the training policies
this particular company used. He often wondered what happened to
that young dog.
Due
to they're work, John & his dogs found themselves in some frightening
& dangerous situations, it was through these experiences that he discovered,
having been brought up with working collie's, his true allegiances were
to the German Shepherd Dog.
With
me it all started at roughly 7 years of age when I saw an "Alsatian" in
the street. I asked my mum what it was to which I was met with the reply
"it's
an Alsatian & no your not getting one"
This
may seem like a strange answer however, I was always bringing home fish,
seagulls, all kinds of waifs and strays ( sometimes they weren't even strays
at that ) so maybe it wasn't such a strange answer in hindsight!
From that day on my mind was made up, I would have my "Alsation"
no matter how long it took, 20 years later my "Precious Gift, Corra" came
into my life quickly followed by "My Hero, Maxie Boy" and a few years later
"Frantic Freya", the rest they say is history.
I'd
love to say that I have a natural affinity with the canine world but sadly
I haven't, it's taken a long time to learn what I have and I continue to
learn to this day however, I am glad to say that the dogs seem to take
to me, I just love getting to know them, I am constantly fascinated by
them, listening to the stories they tell, trying to figure out what is
wrong with them and how we can sort it out.
John
however is your regular Doctor Doolittle, his dealings with the animal
kingdom are a joy to watch and yes, I do envy him big time! Many
a night we've sat talking about cows, sheep, dogs, cats, in fact, if it's
an animal of any kind you can be sure that we've discussed it at great
length :-)
We
do not breed, never have and never will, we are also no longer involved
in rescue although we do offer common sense advice based on play, fun but
most of all love and respect.
We
are also into holistic therapies as we find it distressing pumping our
dogs full of needless chemicals when there are so many alternatives out
there.
We
have met so many lovely dogs through our work and shared our lives with
these wonderful creatures. It's been a lot of fun, quite a few tears
and bucket loads of frustration, it's also been a steep learning curve
but at the end of the day it's all been worth it as our lives have been
enriched having shared it with
"our
friends"
We
hope you enjoy your visit
&
hope
to see you again soon.
