I picked you up
so small and cheeky,
I smiled and said, "Be Still."
You dug holes in the yard
and slinked before me
I frowned and said, "Be Still."
You took their ball
and led them on a merry chase
I chuckled and said, "Be Still."
You looked up at me
wagging for a walk
I grinned and said, "Be Still."
You warmed my feet
and wriggled as I read
I sighed and said "Be Still."
You aged and still
you jumped like a pup
I laughed and said, "Be Still."
You watched me
for one last time
that tail wagged
the needle fell
I cried and whispered,
Be Still.
