| Danny's story is a little bit vague to say
the least but I'll try and relate this sorry tale as best I can.
Danny went into rescue as a victim of a marriage break up. He seemed fine, no problems although his toilet was a little bit loose and he was slightly under weight, but that's nothing new in the rescue world. He was rehomed by a family and everything was
well apart from him not putting on weight and being *loose* so the couple
took him to the vet who ordered a series of tests including a Tli test,
just to be on the safe side. The results came back that he was Epi
and suffering from Sibo (bacterial overgrowth). Antibiotics were
given which soon sorted out the Sibo and he was placed onto enzyme replacement
therapy straight away.
Now at this point you'd think "great" but no, I'm afraid not. His new owners contacted the rescue with a
view to help financing Danny's treatment but the rescue refused point blank
claiming it was the co-ordinators responsibility. The owners then
contacted the area co-ordinator who homed him with them but she was off
no help and no longer involved with the rescue organization. Back to the
rescue went his owners but they sent them back to the co-ordinator, the
co-ordinator said it was the rescues responsibility.
Court action was mentioned, the rescue were suing the co-ordinator for money owed, the co-ordinator was suing the rescue for money owed as were Danny's owners but due to all the upset and the fact that the owners weren't getting any help at all, Danny was put to sleep purely due to his owners not being able to afford his medication. He was roughly 3 years old ! This death was totally needless, a complete waste of a dogs life and for what, so the rescue could keep the money they get to *help* rescue dogs instead of spending some of it *on* a rescue dog ? Just one dog being rehomed on a weekly basis would have covered Danny's treatment for a fortnight. |
Think about the Danny's of this world when you say goodnight to man's best friend.
